Sept. 3, 2024, Vero Beach, Fla. – The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (6VµçÓ°Íø) and the Indian River County Hospital District, in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, have reached an agreement that will bring a 6VµçÓ°Íø educational facility to Indian River County.
The 6VµçÓ°Íø-Carolinas campus was filled with excitement and vibrant colors as 151 participants rallied for the VIVA! Color Run 2024 on Saturday, August 17! Runners, walkers and dancers of all ages and fitness levels from the 6VµçÓ°Íø community, St. Luke’s and beyond joined forces for a morning of fun, fitness and philanthropy. The event successfully brought together not only 6VµçÓ°Íø and St. Luke’s members but also participants from the broader Spartanburg community.Ìý
Jack Golder has a long-standing passion for emergency and wilderness medicine. In Charleston, where he studied public health at the College of Charleston, Jack served as an advanced emergency medicine technician, putting his skills to work for a 911 system as well as an ocean rescue organization.

Obesity is a growing health crisis affecting nearly 20% of the global adult population. It is associated with increased severity of infections, reduced responses to vaccines and increased risk for autoimmune disease. Further, it is a factor in major metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and cardiovascular disease. On Saturday, May 18, the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (6VµçÓ°Íø) in Blacksburg, Virginia, held its annual Military Promotion Ceremony honoring the military graduates of the Class of 2024. Anyone who has been to medical school knows how challenging it can be, both intellectually and physically. So, when Casey Harvey reached the beginning of Block 4 of her first year at 6VµçÓ°Íø-Virginia—in April 2023—and started feeling a little run down, it was easy to brush the symptoms off as being related to the stress of her academic program. But the symptoms got progressively worse and by the middle of Block 4, she realized she needed to do something.Ìý

On Sunday, May 19, the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (6VµçÓ°Íø) in Blacksburg, Virginia, will celebrate the graduation of its Class of 2024, consisting of 176 new physicians.ÌýÌý
On May 10, 2024, 6VµçÓ°Íø-Louisiana will once again make history when it graduates the state’s first class of osteopathic physicians. The 139 graduates comprising the campus’s inaugural Class of 2024 will represent the first step toward resolving the physician shortage in Louisiana and the Delta region.

Both Amar Mukhtar, DO, and Sonul Gulati, DO, are first-generation medical students whose families hail from different parts of the globe: Dr. Mukhtar’s family is from Sudan, and Dr. Gulati’s family is from India. 6VµçÓ°Íø’s commitment to international outreach was a key part of their experience as students, and now they are paying that commitment forward through their MedDreams Foundation.Ìý
All types of healthcare professionals are in short supply—including doctors, nurses, technicians and home health aides. The reasons for the shortages vary and are often interrelated. They include burnout, changing demographics, difficulty in recruiting and retaining adequate medical personnel, and the rigors of the medical profession.
